The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is a non-profit international student organization. Our mission is to represent international students, thus providing opportunities for cultural understanding and self-development under the principle of Students Helping Students. We are 15,000 members from 500+ local sections in 42 countries working on a volunteer basis in Higher Education Institutions. We are offering services to 160,000 students.ESN Zagreb was formed in 2011, as the first ESN section in Croatia. Since its inception we have facilitated the experiences of hundreds of Erasmus exchange students coming to study in Zagreb. ESN Zagreb also organizes a 'buddy' program for the incoming students, who are paired up with local Croatian students while they're transitioning into Croatian life. We also organize social, cultural, and sporting events, including thematic parties, national dinners, and various trips around Croatia. For our outgoing students who plan on doing an Erasmus semester abroad, we do informational presentations about what they can expect and how to prepare for student life in another country. We have also organized three international events: - CNR (Council of National Representatives) held in October of 2012 - SEEP (South Eastern European Platform) held in November of 2013 - NBM (National Boards' Meeting) held in November of 2016We have also received an award for Best New Section in 2012, as well as a second place for Best Gadgets and third place for hosting the Best Event (SEEP). At AGM Germany 2017 we received the mobilitySTAR award for the best activities supporting mobility in cooperation with ESN Split. We are fully supported by our local university, the University of Zagreb and its International Relations Office.
