In 2012, ESCRYPT GmbH, a spin-off of the Ruhr University Bochum founded in 2004, was acquired by ETAS. Since then, ESCRYPT GmbH has become the market leader in automotive cybersecurity with customers all over the world. Until the end of 2021, ESCRYPT GmbH was managed as an independent subsidiary before being integrated into ETAS GmbH at the beginning of 2022. As of January 1, 2023, holistic automotive cybersecurity solutions of the former subsidiary combined with ETAS' vehicle basic software, middleware, development tools, cloud-based operations services, and end-to-end engineering and consulting services will now be offered under the ETAS brand. The result is an optimized portfolio that provides best-in-class customer solutions for the realization of software-defined vehicles.
