ESDEG is a registered charity and was established in 2006 to help address the needs of the local Somali community, many of whom had arrived as refugees. Since its inception, ESDEG has expanded its services to members of all faiths and ethnic groups, who are experiencing disadvantage, exclusion, poor social mobility, inequality and other barriers that are preventing the community or its members from thriving.Our Vision:To improve the lives of BMER and other disadvantaged communities in Ealing and surrounding boroughs, particularly children and young people.Our Mission:To empower members of disadvantaged communities through education, training and skills development and to further equality, social justice, social mobility and community cohesion.Our Values:- Hard work and educational achievement of young people- Equal opportunity and fairness- Supporting good parenting skills and role models- Integration while maintaining cultural identity- Respecting the needs of diverse service users- Development of self-esteem and confidence building- Transparency and accountabilityOur Client Group:- Young people between 5-24 years of age- Somali, black and minority ethnic, refugee and other disadvantaged men and women living in Southall and neighbouring boroughs- Parents, elders and carers of young Somali, BMER and other disadvantaged persons- All other young people and families who wish to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the diverse Somali community's culture, religion, language and ethosOur Charitable Objectives:- Advancement of education and training- Relief of unemployment for the benefit of the public- Relief of poverty, sickness and distress, and promotion of good health- Provision of recreational facilities in the interest of social welfare with the object of improving the conditions of peoples' lives- Advance the education of Somali, BMER and other disadvantaged children and young people
