Fund-raising - Ontario, California, United States
The Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars area of focus is "Education." We have raised close to $1.4 million and awarded over 1,000 student scholarships in the Inland Empire, an average of 50-70 students per year. In 2020 the Foundation expects to award between 50-60 scholarships for the 2020-21 academic year. Our geographic area extends from Pomona to San Bernardino and Riverside, where we have awarded high school and continuing college students with Scholarships. Almost all recipients that meet our rigorous standards are under-represented, low-income, and first in their family to attend college. The mission of the Foundation is to assist students in achieving their educational needs by providing financial aid and academic support, and to close the educational achievement gap for all students, as measured by graduation from high school and enrollment in college. Further, the Foundation advocates that upon completion of their studies, students return to their respective communities to lend their success and leadership--in essence to "pay it forward."As the nation's most extensive grassroots scholarship program, Dollars for Scholars provides a wealth of student assistance by harnessing the power of community—thousands of volunteers and donors empowering students in their own backyards. The Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars is one of about 500 Chapters nationally and an affiliate of Scholarship America.
