Health, Wellness & Fitness - Plainview, New York, United States
EsperanzaEnterprises, Inc. is a Disability Advocacy & Support Services Organization. Our plan was (is) to start out SMALL & build BIG. In this light EE began as a home based business offering Information & Referral Services for an about People w. Disabilities. Additionally we prepared informational booklets concerning Advocacy & Support Issues. Before EE could progress, further Hurricane Sandy came to NY, leaving in its wake a path of destruction not seen in hundreds of years. Ms. Meerkatz lived in Lido Towers, in Lido Beach NY with her 83-year-old mother. Their first floor condo was obliterated. Water lines surged to an estimated 10 ft. Ms. Meerkatz lost all of her personal belongings as well as everything pertaining to the business. Ms. Meerkatz returned to the condo unit if anything could be retrieved. She was able to take notebooks, which contained operation information, financial plans etc. Using these notes & having some, business info saved on a CLOUD Computer System she has struggled to rebuild. It is anticipated that w/ in the next few months a strong Board of Directors will be formed that will lead EE onto its previous goals. Fundraising will be a major task of the Board & they will also be choosing the Advisory Board. The Advisory Board will be responsible for sight selection & overseeing Construction & Development. The 1st phase of development will be selecting a site for THE CARING COMMUNITY; an eclectic community recreation center for Physically Disabled & Chronically Ill Adults ages 18 - 64 years old. The community center will provide a variety of recreation, sports & support Services. The ultimate goal for EE is to create what will be known as the EsperanzaEnterprises ABILITIES CAMPUS. This is a fully accessible, multi-faceted site providing Advocacy & Support for this population as well as a variety of housing options, medical care, & a skilled nursing facility.
