CRUA is a new studio based in São Paulo, Brazil, that produces documentary films and transmedia projects connecting new media and social impact. "The Sound of Bells" is the company's first feature film and is part of an award winning expanded documentary project. "The Sound of Bells" has pioneered the use of new technologies combined with documentary production to promote Brazilian cultural heritage. The project feature film, The Sound of Bells, has been invited to the official selection of the XXVI Festival Biarritz Amerique Latine, the International Market of Visions du Réel, Media Library Doc Outlook (Nyon, Swittzerland), 2ª Heritales - International Heritage Film Festival (Portugal, 2017) and the 32ª Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara, Market Screenings Guadalajara Film Market (México, 2017). In Brazil, we would highlight awards for best cinematography at Mostra Sesc de Cinema Paulista (São Paulo, 2017) and the jury award for best documentary of the 21st Florianópolis Audiovisual Mercosul - FAM (Florianópolis, 2017).The transmedia project Sound of the Bells has won the 29th Rodrigo Melo Franco de Andrade award, the main award in promotion and preservation of the Cultural Heritage of Brazil, given by the National Historic and Artistic Heritage Institute. Sound of the Bells also won the Culture and Tourism category of the WSA Mobile Brazil Award, which began in 2003 in Geneva, at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) scope of United Nation and has been coordinated by the International Center for New Media (ICNM - International Center for New Media), Salzburg, Austria.In 2017 the studio launched the short film GARY, that has been invited to the 27th Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival – Curta Cinema (Brasil - Rio de Janeiro, 2017); 24th International Independent Film Festival in the name of Ireneusz Radzio - PUBLICYSTYKA (Poland - Kędzierzyn-Koźle, 2017); 1st Festival of Ethnographic Film of Pará (Brazil - Pará, 2017); 11th Uruguay International Documentary Film Festival - Atlantidoc (Uruguay - Atlántida, 2017) and 12th International Documentary Film Festival - MiradasDoc, Official Selection (Spain - Guía de Isora, 2018).The studio also organizes research labs for the creation of multiplatform storytelling and interactive documentaries. In 2017, Estudio CRUA produced two hackathons, each one a 6-day marathon finalized with the online publishing of webdocumentaries about Bixiga (bixigaexiste.com.br), Bom Retiro (retiroretratos.com.br)and Centro (paradacentro.com.br) traditional neighbourhoods of São Paulo that over the last centuries have been hosting immigrants and refugees that come to country.
