ESUO is the European Synchrotron and Free-Electron Laser User Organisation and represents all European photon science users of these facilities. Our vision is: a thriving European synchrotron and free-electron laser (FEL) user community with equal opportunities of access and participation for all scientists based solely on the scientific merit of their ideasOur missions are:1. to represent the interests and needs of all Europe-based users of SR and FEL sources and to advocate on their behalf in all relevant forums, whether these are facilities, national authorities, or the European Commission2. to support the facilities in their ambitions to create equal access opportunities and thus enable all Europe-based scientists to access appropriate light sources solely on the basis of scientific merit and to make this access as simple as possible3. to enable future strategies and funding schemes for equal access by European scientists to appropriate synchrotron and FEL light sources independent of their financial resources4. to foster contacts with users in widening countries and in European neighbour countries, to integrate them into the synchrotron and free-electron laser user community and to share knowledge and expertise with them5. to strengthen cooperation with national user organisations (NUOs) and authorities on a national level6. to initiate and develop collaborations, and to find synergies with user organisations of other analytical facilitiesAt present 30 European countries (including Turkey and Israel) are ESUO members and are represented by delegates. Please contact us in case of any questions, issues, concerns or suggestions you may have (http://www.wayforlight.eu/en/users/esuo/). We are at your disposal and we will do our best to support you.
