Ecommerce is opening new opportunities for developing country micro, small, and mid-size enterprises (MSMEs) to engage in trade, grow, and create new jobs. The Alliance for eTrade Development II Activity (eTrade Alliance) is a $14.7M Global Development Alliance (GDA) implemented in 2019-23 between the U.S. Agency for International Development and ten leading private sector partners Cargill, DHL, Element, Etsy, Latin American eCommerce Institute, Mastercard, Paypal, Ringier One Africa Media, UPS, Visa, and supported by implementing partners Palladium and Nextrade Group, aimed to advance developing country MSMEs' use of ecommerce, including for cross-border trade. The Alliance builds on the work of the first eTrade Alliance built by Nextrade and supported by USAID and four private sector partners in 2017-19.
