Established in 1992, the EU Ecolabel is the official European third party certified Type I ISO 14024 ecolabel aimed to promote products and services which have a reduced environmental impact thus helping European consumers distinguish more environmentally friendly products.Over the past 25 years, a growing number of companies have chosen to rethink their product manufacturing by applying the EU Ecolabel's "circular approach" to their traditional production processes. EU Ecolabel criteria, which exist for 29 different product and service groups ranging from paints to soaps to tourist accommodations, are carefully designed by technical experts to take each step—from the extraction of raw materials, through manufacturing, distribution, and use by the consumer to the disposal of the product into consideration.
