Its members are Ansaldo Energia, Doosan Skoda Power, GE Power, MAN Energy Solutions, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe, Siemens and Solar Turbines.EUTurbines promotes the role of the turbine-based power generation in a sustainable, decarbonised European and global energy mix. As energy technology is intrinsically tied to major EU policy objectives related to climate change, energy supply or industrial competitiveness, EUTurbines contributes to the political and regulatory discussions in these areas by continuous exchanges with the European institutions and other stakeholders. More specifically, EUTurbines advocates an economic and legislative environment for European turbine manufacturers to develop and grow R&I and manufacturing in Europe. The Industry: Thanks to their capability of using all types of resources, Turbines are used in a wide range of applications and fuels, including gas, biomass or solar power among others, being the core element of all thermal electricity generation processes. The Industry employs around 70,000 people across Europe, generating an annual turnover of around 25 billion euros. The Policy Issues: With its involvement in a wide range of policy areas, EUTurbines promotes:->the important role of flexible thermal power generation, ensuring reliable and sustainable energy in the future Energy system -> an ambitious R&I framework programme, maintaining technological leadership and contribute to a low-carbon economy worldwide -> a legal framework that encourages industry to continue manufacturing in Europe, transferring European know-how and best available technologies globally and contributing to the Lisbon Objectives -> an integrated approach in Climate and Environmental Policy and standardisation activities that takes into account environmental objectives, local conditions and economic aspects in a balanced manner.
