Who Are We? Audio is our jam – be it post-production for commercial advertising, video, voice-over and podcast, theatre production or live sound – we're focused on creating tunes, levelling sounds and developing music and post production audio for screen, stage and radio waves. Evoke Audio is the product of two creatives – Ricky Simmonds and Matt Eller. Together, we pool extensive experience studying and working as audio technicians and music producers New Zealand-wide and beyond. Joining forces as a duo was a response to many factors – we had forged our own trajectory as audio specialists, established lasting industry connections; and built our knowledge base and skillset. Together we bring the hands on, practical and technical expertise needed to deliver our clients balanced, insightful and well-executed projects. We specialise in sound speak because we know just how important ‘the right sound' is to achieving a meaningful performance or production. When you heighten the visual medium by attuning the voice-over or pairing it with the right composition and production, you don't just capture its message, you elevate it. Because we've honed the arts and audio in all its forms for the best part of our lives – from university studies here and overseas, playing in bands, learning the ropes alongside some of New Zealand's greatest audio technicians and music producers – our passion and appreciation for audio knows no bounds. Audio shouldn't be treated as secondary to visual, which is why we take pride in executing audio deliverables that fulfil a real purpose – to enhance the narrative it speaks. Balancing tone and levelling background noise, or rounding voice-over doesn't just produce a better quality of sound, it lifts the message of the performance piece or advertising clip to a whole other level. As music producers and audio technicians, we're not just sound for sound's sake, experience has taught us that the right audio speaks to the heart of what matters.
