The vision of our project is to generate a sustainable product from an ocean farm and to provide a stable income for ocean farmers. After the successful set-up of the ocean farm and placement of the product, the sustainability concept will be spread through educational measures.Our shared vision will be realized by setting up an ocean farm to produce algae – a sustainable, versatile water plant that improves water quality and grows fast. In an environmentally friendly procedure, the farmed algae will be processed into a biodegradable packaging material. Not only do the farmers profit from selling the final product - since it competes with non-degradable plastic and paper/cardboard packaging materials, plastic pollution in the ocean as well as deforestation might be reduced. On top, no harm is done to existing reefs or algae forests as the cultivation of algae takes place in floating ocean farms.
