Expanse Bioinformatics performs research and development out of its offices in Brooklyn, NY and Houston, TX. Our solutions solutions take the vast amount of genetic data that has become available and allow insights – ranging from establishing connections and forming networks with potentially related individuals or friends – to identifying behaviors that, based on a person's genetics, will help decrease susceptibility to disease and unhealthy human conditions.Our approach includes the use of non-genetic information (e.g. behaviors and demographics) in combination with sequenced genetic information such as Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) to determine, based on an individual's genetics, the specific behaviors that can be modified by the individual to maintain a healthy weight, reduce the probability of developing diseases such as type II diabetes, and in the future, decrease the chances of that individual developing a wide range of diseases through genetically determined behavior modification.Expanse believes that the current "one size fits all" healthcare system in the US will give way to a personalized health and wellness system in which consumers are empowered by their genetic data and are provided treatment and lifestyle modification plans customized to their genes.
