Founded in 1976 by Mr Sheikh Nazir, Explore Culture & Tours has for over 30 years provided those seeking a different experience of India with the perfect trip. Nazir, a native of Kashmir, started the company in 1976 and soon after commenced studies at the renowned Himalayan Mountain Institute in Darjeeling, qualifying fully as a mountaineer in October 1978. This love affair with the mountains continues as Nazir continues to create exciting mountain-based treks and expeditions alongside the more regular adventure trips. When Nazir first started Explore Culture and Tours in 1976, his goal was to provide higher-quality adventure and cultural tours in north India and the Himalayas. Having lived, travelled and worked here his entire life he wanted to give travellers a more in-depth and interesting travel experience than the standard India holiday organised by the mass-market tour operators.Today we remain small, family-owned with a dedicated staff and yet are recognised as one of the leading adventure tour operators in India able to cater to every traveller's need. We primarily operate tours for individual travellers – groups of friends and families – but also provide ground services for some of the best-known names in international adventure travel.
