Extremis Marine provide a comprehensive range of Maritime Consultancy services within the UK and worldwide. Extremis was founded by Master Mariners Gary Clay and Shane Winterton who with over 40 years of marine experience in both the Merchant Navy, Royal Navy, Vessel Traffic Services and Pilotage can provide expert analysis and advice in a wide range of maritime sectors. Our principle activities include Port Surveys, Accident Investigation, Expert Witness Reports, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Marine Simulation and Training, Anti Piracy and Counter Terrorism Training, Marine Advice for The Entertainment Industry, Emergency and Disaster Planning. Gary is a decorated ex-RFA Officer and holds both a Master Mariner CoC and extensive Royal Navy Seaman Officer Training. For the last 10 years he has worked as a Pilot on the Humber Estuary. During this period he has served as the Pilot Training Officer, responsible for the design and implementation of a structured pilot training programme. He now continues to work as a senior pilot on the estuary as well as providing consultancy services worldwide. Shane's background is in submarine cable installation and maintenance, working at the highest levels with the Cable & Wireless fleet. In 2002 Shane came ashore to work in Vessel Traffic Services for the Humber Estuary. He is V103 qualified and is now employed as Assistant Harbour Master of the River Humber as well as providing consultancy services worldwide.
