Fab Lab San Diego is a founding tenant of Makers Quarter – a neighborhood of Artists, Entrepreneurs, and Dreamers located in San Diego's upper East Village.Fab Lab strives to be San Diego's non-profit hub of innovation, maker education and entrepreneurship. As a grassroots community of passionate, dedicated and engaged volunteers, we seek to educate our students, enrich the lives of our members, and help our entrepreneurs. We have an advanced digital design and fabrication laboratory that allows community members access to high-tech tools in order to actualize ideas through design and fabrication. It is our goal to provide an environment which nurtures creativity and fosters a multi-disciplinary group of members, start-ups and students. And it is our hope that from that Fab Lab will serve as a springboard for San Diego's future economic and educational innovators and leaders.About the Fab Lab Network:Started by the MIT Center for Bits and Atoms in 2007, Fab Labs are organized around a global network connecting 100 laboratories in more than 30 countries, from South Africa to Norway or Amsterdam center to an Ashram in India. Around the globe, people have utilized the tools associated with the Fab Lab to create the things that they desire or need. These labs are production workshops and small-scale innovation hubs equipped with digital fabrication machines and technologies for the production of objects, tools and electronics. Fab Labs are quickly becoming one of the largest networks of knowledge and makers in the world. Founded in 2007, Fab Lab San Diego is a founding member of the Fab Lab network and the only one currently on the West Coast of the United States.
