FACT - Families and Children Tasmania, is the peak body representing non-Government agencies in Tasmania involved in children and family services. FACT advocates for policies and initiatives that will address the needs of children and young people at risk and their families such as the Home Stretch Campaign. FACT supports the need for young people in state care to have a place they can call home as well as the required support until the age of 21. This is what we do:• Policy development and advocacy for policies and initiatives that will address the needs of children and young people at risk as well as their families. • Provide advocacy, support and information for non-government service providers and the community at large, with respect to the appropriate and effective services for children and young people at risk and their families. • Promote family support, community development and other preventive programs with the aim to appropriately maintain children and young people within a family network and enhance parental care and responsibility. • Support and undertake research into the needs of children at risk, their families and services providers in the industry sector. • Promote the welfare of children and young people placed in out-of-home care and those at risk of placement, together with their families. • Promote, support and undertake provision of appropriate training and skills development for those working in this industry sector.• Promote and facilitate the development of national standards of service delivery.If you are interested in learning more about FACT then we encourage you to reach out to our Executive Officer by email at geraldine@fact.asn.au .
