FCC is a market support institution serving both as a Competition and Consumer Protection Authority and dealign with controls of anti-counterfeit goods in Tanzania Mainland. It has headquarters in Dodoma, Central Tanzania, with offices in Dar es Salaam and Dodoma. Enforces Competition and Consumer Protection provisions vide the Fair Competition Act (No 8 of 2003) and Anti-Counterfeit enforcements vide the Merchandise Marks Act (1963). On Competition FCC handles Mergers and Acquisitions, Exemptions to mergers and agreements, control of anti-competitive agreements, abuse of market power and all forms of restrictive trade practices. It has quasi judicial powers and its decisions are appealable at the Fair Competition Tribunal
