The Fairventures Worldwide Mission:We combine best-practice agroforestry and technology to create sustainable forests where local communities can economically thrive and global value-chain actors can contribute to reforestation, increased biodiversity and the reversal of climate change.Fairventures Worldwide is a non-profit organization that is active in Indonesia and Uganda. Our work has two main objectives: 1) to identify and plant forests that restore degraded lands with environmentally beneficial trees that make sense for global supply chains, and 2) to inform and empower communities of smallholders to reverse deforestation and the depletion of biodiversity. We analyse and field-test solutions, while engaging communities, the government and the private sector. Winner of the Google Impact Challenge in 2018, we have demonstrated a commitment to the integration of innovative technology and best-practice agroforestry. FVW is a trusted implementer of individual donors and the German government.Sustainable forests: The solution to global climate change is simple and right in front of us: Trees. We need to protect existing forests and we need to plant the right kind of trees, planted in the right locations, right now. We need vast, productive forests that provide communities with livelihoods and absorb CO2. We need these forests in a climate zone that enables record-breaking biomass production. We need value-chain actors that understand the importance of these forests and engage in planting and use the timber for long- lasting construction and furniture products. If planted forests cover all our needs, we can protect remaining rainforests and their biodiversity.
