Horse racing at Fairyhouse is a national institution. Since the first point-to-point meeting was run there in 1848, it has grown into one of the most loved racecourses in the country. Predominantly known for its National Hunt racing, Fairyhouse also stages high-class Flat racing during the summer months, thus offering its patrons an excellent day out all year roundThe highlight of the year at Fairyhouse is the Easter Festival, which is well established as one of the most popular racing festivals in the Irish racing calendar, with the historic Irish Grand National taking centre stage. Another notable National Hunt highlight is the Hatton's Grace Hurdle meeting in early December, which is always one of the strongest stand-alone meetings of the entire racing calendar. On the Flat, the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes in late June is the highlight, with the Listed Belgrave Stakes providing ample back-up 11 days later. When it comes to drinking and eating, Fairyhouse patrons are exceptionally well catered for. There are bars on the ground floor of both grandstands, while the Bobbyjo Bar on the first floor of the Powers Gold Label Stand provides an ideal base for a day's racing. Next to the Bobbyjo Bar, the Bobbyjo Bistro offers an excellent choice of food, while over in the Jameson Stand, Solerinas Restaurant offers a wide range of food on a self-service basis.
