Faithful Hound Media is proud to be supporting The Human Spirit Trilogy, a series of books by Andrew Harris that will celebrate the scientific discoveries and progress being made across all aspects of modern life.In 1903 Orville & Wilbur Wright managed to fly an aeroplane for 59 seconds covering 260 metres in a field near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. In 1969 NASA put Apollo 11 and two men on the moon 384,000 kilometres away in space. Mankind went from not being able to fly to being able to put a man on the moon and bring him back alive in only sixty-six years!In his laboratory on 2nd October 1925 John Logie Baird successfully transmitted the first television picture of "Stooky Bill", a wooden ventriloquist's dummy, in a 30-line vertically scanned image at 5 pictures per second. The image was transmitted from one side of the room to the other. Today, less than one hundred years later, we watch live colour outside broadcasts in HD from anywhere in the world...and even from space.The Human Spirit Trilogy will examine our staccato approach to progress as a species: it will celebrate our successes; it will feed the appetite that lies hungry for learning deep within each of us; it will inspire future breakthroughs in our understanding by examining the very human failings that are holding us back.
