Since October 13, 1981, the Family Crisis Center of Prince George's County, Inc. has been the only safe house for victims of abuse and the primary service provider to families experiencing domestic violence in the county. Our mission is to promote and facilitate the elimination of violence in intimate relationships by providing counseling, education and support services for women, children, and men.\\Twenty years ago the Family Crisis Center's primary service was to provide safe, emergency shelter to battered women and their children. Over time, the agency has expanded its services to provide families experiencing domestic violence with comprehensive wrap-around services. We seek to accomplish our mission through a variety of program components.\\The Family Crisis Center is a private, 501©3 non-profit, human service organization governed by a 21 member, volunteer Board of Directors. Our Board of Directors represent a diverse mix of community leaders, professionals, and activists with extensive experience in social justice advocacy. Funding for the agency comes from a variety of sources, including the Prince George's County Government, the Maryland Department of Human Resources, Victims of Crime Assistance, and the Office of the Governor of the State of Maryland. Additionally, program components and services are supported by private donations and ongoing fund-raising events.
