"Providing Food Security and treating Acute Malnutrition through Research and Education."The mission of FARE International, Inc. is to serve individuals and families in the world's poorest nations by saving the lives of children suffering from malnutrition and providing access to food security, safe water and sanitation to communities in need.We provide in-patient recuperative care for moderate and severe acute malnutrition in children 0-5 years of age. Children receive in-patient therapeutic feeding and medical care for 3 weeks to 3 months, depending on the severity of the condition. Monthly follow-up visits are provided to ensure proper adherence to the prescribed treatment. Out-patient therapeutic feeding will be utilized in less severe cases.Our programs promote food security for local communities through training in sustainable agriculture practices and rabbit breeding. The Rabbit Breeding Project serves multiple purposes including reduction of poverty and malnutrition, generation of income for poor households and promotion of food security. Families and communities in need of nutrition and economic support will be identified and provided with training on how to use rabbit breeding as a food source and a source of income.We foster economic development in the region through rabbit breeding and sustainable agriculture projects and empowering women and children. Research based strategies for malnutrition and food security intervention programs are utilized to maximize our impact. Data collection and research projects will be ongoing to analyze the impact of our programs and to establish research based methods. Education projects and training in nutrition, food security, sustainable agriculture and healthcare will be provided to local communities.
