Fathom Fishing is bringing commercial fishing into the 21st century by creating data and actionable analytics using hardware and software developed specifically for fishermen.We are giving commercial trap fishermen the means to enter the IoT information revolution that every single industry has benefited from. We do this by providing them with valuable environmental data and actionable analytics so they can increase efficiency and yield. Commercial trap fishing is a niche within the industry in which fishermen bait traps, throw them over the side of their boat, and wait for them to attract lobster or crab on the sea floor. They then return to their buoy marked trap, and haul it back into their boat. Right now, fishermen are unable to study the behavior of the species they target; and there are no systems available that give them the ability to consistently track what they are catching or how they are catching it. Our platform solves this by replacing existing navigation equipment, adding sensors to traps, and providing the data, trends and predictions back to the fishermen.We have three core products: a suite of sensors we call pucks; a software subscription that takes in the data created by the pucks then generates fishermen friendly analytics; and a chartplotter that adds connectivity with all the pucks and serves as the main portal to the wealth of information provided by our software. Fishermen will place a puck in all their traps where it collects environmental data on the ocean floor. Our platform automatically marks where traps are placed, and syncs collected data when they are hauled. With the incoming data, our analytics platform can show fishermen the most time and fuel efficient routes to fish, how different species have historically migrated, and recommend to them where to place future traps in order to maximize catch
