The Federation of European Self Storage Associations (FEDESSA) was formed in March 2004 to provide a European focus for the growing self storage industry throughout Europe. Its membership is open to any European National Self Storage Association (one per nation). Members of National Associations fund FEDESSA.FEDESSA is registered in Belgium but administration formalties are carried out in the U.K.FEDESSA provides a common voice for the industry throughout Europe. It also provides advice and support to its National Associations and Co-ordinates action when appropriate with help from its Members. .Through its membership FEDESSA now represents over 1300 self storage facilities which equates approximately to over 60% of the self storage facilities in Europe. It is also in close contact with operators or potential operators in Austria, Estonia, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Russia.Its current membership includes the national associations of Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, The Netherlands, Czech Republic and the United Kingdom. Representatives from each national association come together twice a year as the General Council. The President is currently Mr Christian Schmutz from Switzerland. The Vice President is Mr Cesare Carcano from Ireland. Its Secretary General is Mr Rodney Walker from the United Kingdom and its European representative is Mr Tony Richman.
