FemaleDepartment.com was originally launched in 2014 as an e-commerce site with a purpose: using fashion as a medium to connect and empower young women. But it wasn't long before that purpose out-shined the product, and a greater calling for community was revealed. (Perhaps better known now as the story of "BrunchInTheCity".) Totally inspired by the size and caliber of the network we amassed in such a short amount of time, it became increasingly clear to us that our role as a brand - and sense of passion and purpose as individuals - was changing. So we switched shit up. Created for the dreamers, the innovators, the movers and the shakers, the new Female Department is a safe space - a collective - for like-minded women to gather and connect in the common belief that together, we're stronger. Through conversations and events, both intimate and for the masses, our goal is to encourage the pursuit of greatness and emancipate through sharing. The sharing of stories, the sharing of ideas, the sharing of networks, but most importantly the sharing of tools. And so, from advice and insights to features on important voices, products and brands, both locally and beyond, we're here to celebrate the beauty in our diversity and the ties that connect us all.
