(fem)me Details
(fem)me is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was founded by four students at the University of Georgia in May of 2015. We are composed of an entirely volunteer staff that works with various organization throughout Athens-Clarke county and NE Georgia. In July 2015, (fem)me became a community member of the Athens Resource Center for the Homeless (ARCH) which is a facility that serves as a "one-stop shop" for homeless community members and includes shower and laundry facilities, post office boxes, and access to computers and internet services.Our mission is twofold:1) to provide menstrual hygiene products directly to the women who need them2) to provide public health education and advocacy regarding the importance of proper feminine hygiene for the community and our clients. Our purpose:To create a community solution that seeks to end the unnecessary suffering experienced by homeless women due to a lack of access to feminine hygiene products.
