I've been building for over 30 years, culminating in the creation of Ferg Waddell Homes, my gift to both my own vision and homeowners. I've witnessed too many great construction companies topple under the weight of their own top heavy structures; it's taught me that business is just like building. The foundation needs to be solid, the materials high quality and everything must have an integral use in the overall design or it needs to go.When I created my own company I made sure to follow the rules of building. If an aspect of my structure didn't benefit the homeowner, it went. I have no top heavy management team, no show home, no salespeople, no fancy office, nothing that would cause me to add unnecessary margins onto a build.I source my materials through a co-op and good business partnerships; I pay wholesale prices and pass those prices onto my customers with no markup. I only use qualified and vetted tradespeople, and as the project manager I'm always on site ensuring things are running to schedule and the highest quality is being maintained.I ensure every home I build surpasses current building standards, which includes installing an air flow system, using the best quality insulation and having all windows double glazed as standard. All of this comes as standard inclusions and you can read the full list on my website.Everything I achieve with Ferg Waddell Homes is intended to give value back to the homeowner. Materials are more expensive in our country, as is labour and compliance. That doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't provide affordable, quality, homes that stand the test of the time. I'm here to prove we can, in the hopes other companies will follow my lead and one day we'll end up with a huge stock of high quality houses so nobody needs to live in their car in this great country ever again.
