Fermata Inc. is the operating company for Fermata Music Therapy and No Bounds Music Education for Everyone. Owned and managed by Dr. Daniel Hyams, PhD, Fermata Inc. provides music therapy and music lessons services for children and families, adults with mental health and learning challenges, and on site in long term care homes, schools and hospitals. Music Therapy uses the principles of live, interactive music making with people of all ages to support speech, language and communication difficulties, behavioral and emotional support, interaction, self-awareness, learning, self-expression and self-development. Music Therapy is the skillful use of music and musical elements by an accredited Music Therapist to promote, maintain and restore mental, physical and emotional health. Music has non-verbal, creative, structural and emotive qualities. Musicians and special educators, who are experienced in working with students who need to learn outside of the traditional teaching framework, provide the Fermata No Bounds Music Education for Everyone program. No Bounds provides many learning opportunities such as; reading music notes, playing by ear, understanding rhythm, tempo, dynamics, music symbols and developing technique. The student works with their instructor to develop musical skills and abilities, as well as develop social skills, developmental awareness and motor sensory skills, encouraging a "Can Do" attitude towards personal self-esteem. Fermata also provides the Step-By-Step Learning program, which are individual educational tutorials of all subjects to students with special needs. Art Therapy: Where Words Are Not Enough is our specialized art therapy and occupational therapy program applied in long-term care homes for seniors. With a bespoke approach to healthcare and education, Fermata offers individual attention, care and expertise.
