Other - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, US
The winery is owned and operated by Chuck and Daneen Zaleski. Fero is an Italian sounding German name from Daneen's family. In 1812 the farm was settled by the Hummels and remains in the family. We started with a dream of sitting on the patio sipping wine looking over the vines that produced it. We still do that in those rare moments we are not working. We do get help from both of our parents and our four children and of course our pleasant staff. We are passionate about what we do. We believe the wine is a reflection of our family, our land and our hometown. The vineyard is planted on a south facing slope overlooking Lewisburg, in central Pennsylvania. It is in a beautiful agricultural valley adjacent to a thriving college town. Our events and tasting room are nestled below the vines. We are less than a mile off Route 15 just four miles south of Route 80. Our focus is on dry cool climate wines that we grow in the vineyard. We grow Riesling, Pinot Gris, Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Noir, Lemberger and Saperavi. The harvested fruit travels two miles to our home where we have the production facilities. After careful processing it makes it back to the vineyard for sales and tasting. When you come to the vineyard or sample our wines you should get a sense of where we are from. The vines are well managed and the fruit has a style unique to our area. White wine consistently comes through as crisp and refreshing. The vines produce fruit that almost makes itself into wine. The vines are reaching the age where they are showing more complexity. The reds are developing as we fine tune the techniques. We also have a selection of sweet wine grown in Pennsylvania. Varieties like Niagara, Concord, Cayuga and De Chaunac are the base grapes for our fun sweet wines that are popular here. We have plenty of space and welcome you to come with some snacks and enjoy the atmosphere.
