Cinéma Arabe is a Dutch film festival taking place in Amsterdam since 2004. This festival introduces contemporary features, short films and documentaries made by Arab filmmakers and western directors, who put a light on the Arab world. Indeed, it shows recent, talked-about quality films and documentaries that have not previously been shown in the Netherlands, and pays special attention to the work of women directors and the youngest generation of filmmakers. We follow the newest developments in the field of Arab cinematography and want to give another view of the social and political changes occurring in various Arab countries. In this new era, filmmakers are particularly interested in breaking taboos. Cinéma Arabe wants to be a platform for these outlooks and serve as an eyeopener for viewers. In addition to film screenings, we organize debates and Q&A's with filmmakers.
