FibreNet is a network of experts interested in the field of bio-based fibres. In 2018-2021, it runs as an innovative EU-funded H2020-MSCA-ITN project that trains PhDs in functionalization, characterization, modelling and production of bio-based fibres and fibre products. The core of the FibreNet is a consortium of 15 European academic and industrial organizations. Together we strive to bridge the knowledge-gap between the properties of fibres and fibre-based products in order to enable product tailoring, products with new functionalities and brand-new fibre products. We concentrate on bio-based fibres, either natural or man-made in origin. We seek solutions that are suited for different application areas of bio-based industry including biocomposites, paper&packaging and medical textiles. The common thread in all our research and educational efforts is sustainability. This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant agreement No 764713.
