"Finca Las Nubes" lies at the feet of the hill "El Cajón", at 5 km. from Cafayate, an exceptional location surrounded by carob trees (a local species called "algarrobo"), and the impressive tall cactus called "cardones", along with ancient remnants and terraces. Right at this spot is where José Luis Mounier decided to place the vineyards. On these particular soils, situated at an altitude of a roughly 1850 m.a.s.l., popular wine varieties and varietal blends are being developed, the result of these bold vineyards making their way through the cultivated terraces that once belonged to the indigenous community called "Diaguitas Calchaquíes". Juan Calchaquí, chief of the town Tolombón was the first in after the domination of the Inca's who defended these grounds to the Spanish conquers in 1560. As a key figure in history the valley and it's inhabitants are nowadays being called after him: Calchaquí.
