The HKU FinTech Society aims to build a thriving community around the latest Technology Advancements and their applications in Finance. The society has been created in response to fast developments in IT that are expected to significantly disrupt many sectors, including the financial services sector that has been working in a traditional way for many years. The society aims to make students and young professionals aware of FinTech related topics (including but not limited to blockchain technology, data mining, computational finance, algorithmic trading, and crypto-currency) to nurture financial technologists and entrepreneurs.The FinTech Society will also focus on providing you with firsthand experience in the industry by giving you the chance to network and learn from industry experts, university professors and leaders. Additionally, we will be organising workshops, seminars, and an annual FinTech Pitch Competition that will allow you to develop useful employability skills, such as communication & presentation skills, research & analytical skills, problem solving & team building skills and most importantly, foster innovation – something that will be increasingly more valued by employers in many sectors. These aims are achieved by students' cross-faculty collaboration and by engagement with industry professionals who bring real-world perspectives and experience into the FinTech topics.FinTech society is aimed towards students of any degree who are interested in the application of technological innovations not only into the financial sector but also well beyond finance.
