People today are constantly bombarded with more stimuli than at any other time in history; from checking email upon waking to updating themselves on social media while sitting in traffic. Because of the abrupt arrival of these technologies, our bodies and minds have not yet adapted to manage these additional stressors. The objective of First Float is to bring balance back into the lives of our client by enabling people to completely unwind. First Float primarily focuses on three modalities of relaxation and healing - massage therapy, flotation therapy, and halotherapy. Massage therapy is a very common relaxation technique most often used in spas. We differentiate ourselves in this market by focusing on the therapeutic aspects, enhancing both performance and productivity.Floatation Tank Therapy (i.e. Floatation REST therapy or floating) involves a client lying within an enclosed or open float tank or room. To increase the client's buoyancy, the tanks are filled with a solution consisting of 8 inches water and 850 lbs of Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate). Floating is also known as isolation therapy or sensory deprivation because the tank environment removes all external inputs, such as light and sound. To further the sensory deprivation effect, the water is maintained at 97.3° F (the same temperature as the human body) allowing the sense of feeling/touch to greatly diminish, you lose track of where the water ends and the air begins. Operationally, the floater showers before entering the tank to remove any oils on the skin then enter the tank. They lay in the tank for an average of 60 - 90 minutes and then shower again before changing back into their clothes. Halotherapy disperses micronized salt into the air helping with allergies and other respiratory conditions. Mixed with chromo (light) therapy, the room contains a Himalayan salt crystal wall radiated by a changing mirage of full-spectrum light.
