ApproachOur focus is on the first responder community. Our goal is to be a trustworthy financial resource for first responders and their families by providing income tax preparation and financial planning services at responsible prices.BiographyBret is a seasoned finance professional with 30 years of accounting and finance experience. He is a CPA licensed to practice by the state of California and has an MS in Taxation from SDSU and a BS in Business Administration from UC Riverside. He was born in Riverside (a third generation Riversider) and met his wife Tami at UC Riverside. They have two adult children. Bret is a master swimmer (USMS) and enjoys open water swimming.Bret's story includes his brother-in-law Rich May (East Palo Alto PD), who was shot in killed in the line of duty (EOW 1/7/2006). After Rich was killed, Bret spent weeks researching financial resources available to Rich's family, contacting numerous agencies (including CalPers, the DOJ, and the state of California legislature) finding resources that were not easily identifiable. Since then, Bret and his wife Tami, have been involved in an organization called the Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) helping families of fallen officers. Bret and his family are all too aware of what officers and their families go through on a daily basis. Officers run towards danger while the rest are running from it.By founding First Responder Tax Service, Bret is trying to provide a service that will be there for first responders in a way similar to how first responders are there for the public.Mission StatementTo provide trustworthy, professional, and friendly tax preparation and personal financial planning services at responsible prices from a firm that is part of the blue line family.
