Flagsol is a subsidiary of Solar Millennium, one of the world leading project developers for large-scale solar thermal power plants. This promising technology is truly sustainable, as the sun's energy is harvested. Suitable for units larger than 50 MW, our plants generate heat from focussing the sunlight with parabolic mirrors. The heat is converted into electrical energy with a conventional steam power block. We act as project developers, securing sites and obtaining all relevant permits. Sourcing funding is a major task of our team. Once all preparations are ready and Financial Close is achieved, the power plant is constructed and put into operation. This may take some two years, that follows the development cycle of 2 to 4 years. Average overall investment is EUR 300 - 500 Mio, and in the United States our sister company Solar Trust of America is setting up power plants that call for app. USD 1 bln funding per unit.
