FlashCare is a medical device startup company that provides caregivers with the technology to take patient vitals, gather accurate data, and automatically update patient electronic medical records (EMRs). After surveying nurses and caregivers from University Hospital in Cleveland, we found that on average, 32 minutes of every hour is spent filling out patient forms and paperwork. FlashCare can effectively cut this time down the less than 5 minutes per hour, giving caretakers more time to actually tend to their patients needs and provide higher quality healthcare. FlashCare will open up more time for caregivers to actually work with the patient's hands on and provide high quality and more efficient healthcare. FlashCare is a mobile ecosystem consisting of our measurement device as well as a specialized algorithm to send the recorded data directly to the Electronic Medical Record database. The main vitals that are most commonly measured in institutions heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen saturation, temperature, ECG, and respiratory rate. The attachment-based sensors can measure the vitals measured above and more simultaneously, then the data will be automatically populated into the patient's data file, with the option of printing or digital storage. This way, measuring the vitals, editing the records and viewing the data can be streamlined into one product, one step. The beauty behind FlashCare is the configuration of existing sensors and technological infrastructure, so we are not reinventing the wheel. By cutting data entry time to a sixth of what it is now will do wonders for the standard of care. FlashCare will also be able to help professionals more effectively manage the time dedicated to patient engagement, because the data can be evaluated on the existing mobile devices that hospitals already use. This product supplements the mobile hub devices already in use, to empower caregivers more than ever before.
