Flintridge Pharmacy was founded by pharmacist/entrepreneur Joseph Stremfel in 1969, making it one of the oldest businesses in the area. Up until a few years ago, the store was known as Cal Med Pharmacy East, one of a local chain started by the company founder. Today, Flintridge Pharmacy is owned by the founder's son, Michael Stremfel. It continues to operate in the same La Canada shopping center where it was founded. In recent years, the pharmacy has evolved and diversified. Its name was modified to Flintridge Pharmacy & Wellness Center in 2011 to reflect the company's increasing focus on disease prevention and optimal health.
