Floda31 is a laboratory for innovation and creativity. We provide an environment that fosters new connections, networks and cross disciplinary encounters. We are established in the last remaining wilderness of Europe, on the site of a farm in northern Sweden surrounded by incredible views of ancient spruce forests, south of the arctic circle.We believe that sustainability should be tackled by collaboration between disciplines. Science, politics, law, design, architecture and art all play a part. Floda31 will be a location for specialists from various professions to meet, collaborate and create solutions. We like to focus on a design by doing approach, always with design processes in mind.One way in which we will work to fulfil the philosophy of Floda31 is to run curated residencies twice a year; a curator will set a brief and invite individuals from a mix of disciplines to respond to this. Other residencies run throughout the year with individuals setting their own agenda.We will reach and engage our audience through the internet, printed media and moving image as well as real world presence in the form of exhibitions, guerilla activities and our growing network of visitors, lecturers and enthusiasts.Floda31 responds to the fast changing challenges of sustainability by challenging the way we do things. We don't need to do less, we need to do different.
