Florestal Santa Maria (FSM) is a Brazilian company dedicated to the conservation of the Amazon Forest. We are located in Colniza, Mato Grosso, region under intense deforestation pressure, known as Deforestation Arch. The company preserves an area of 71,714 hectares of native Amazon forest and has adopted a business model that aims at combining profitability and the non-predatory use of forest resources. The principle that guides our professional team is environmental protection, not only because it helps preserve the ecosystem and its surrounding area, but because environmental protection also represents the company's source of revenue. The work ethos that guides our enterprise aims at meeting the current and global need for an immediate reduction in deforestation. Apart from executing a FSC® certified low impact management plan, FSM also possess a REDD+ Project. The FSM REDD+ Project was validated and verified by Rainforest Alliance in 2012 and avoids the emission of 29,923,331 tons of CO2. Throughout its duration of 30 years, FSM REDD+ Project will implement socio-environmental activities aiming a local change of baseline scenario, enhancing biodiversity and generating real education opportunities for local youngsters.
