The Florida Community Health Worker Coalition (FCHWC) is a tax exempt nonprofit educational organization considered one of the most effective voices in Florida championing for the advancement of the community health worker (CHW) profession. A CHW is a frontline health worker who is a trusted member of and/or has an unusually close understanding of the community served. This trusting relationship enables the CHW to serve as a link between services and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery.To promote its mission and plans, the Coalition considers input from a variety of stakeholders through conference calls, focus groups, surveys of members, and by regions and Annual CHW Coalition Summits.The Coalition has over 820 active members, over 588 certified CHWs, 5 sponsored programs, and 1 mission.
