Food & Beverages - Bronxville, New York, United States
What was once a simple Hanukkah family tradition has grown into an art form and passion for Elissa Weinberger and her small cookie company. Elissa grew up in the kitchen with her mother and was named after an exceptional baker who like herself, found that a little bit of flour and sugar could add a lot of sweetness to someones day! With her love for sweets in one hand and her background in art as a secondary major in college in the other, Elissa found royal icing to be her most powerful artistic medium. After one fateful, "hey, I can do that!" Elissa began selling custom cookies with a strong focus on quality ingredients, and a not too sweet, not too soft but just right bite. As her love for custom cookies grew, so did Elissa's love for collecting cookie cutters. Along the way, Elissa realized there was a lack in representation when she began to seek out cookie cutters that would provide opportunities for her to meet her Jewish community's needs. A conversation with a fellow baker and another, "hey I can do that!" and her first cookie cutters were born in collaboration with the talented, Amanda Huston, owner of @themakersuite in Orange, California. It was never just about cookies. It's about creating resources and products where there weren't any before. And ultimately it's about making life just a little bit sweeter.Elissa bakes custom cookies in Bronxville, New York and has Judaica inspired cookie cutters that have helped her bring her childhood memories to life. Everyone deserves to bake holiday cookies and holiday cookies were never meant to fit into a one culture fits all box.
