Flying Start Challenge Details

The Flying Start Challenge is an engineering competition in the South West of England sponsored by local aerospace companies including; Airbus, Atkins, BAE Systems, GKN Aerospace, Leonardo Helicopters, MBDA, Safran and Rolls-Royce. School students across Gloucestershire, Bristol and Yeovil are taught the basic principles of flight by the Graduates and Apprentices from the companies. The students can then build a glider which they take to the Regional Final to fly in front of our VIP judges. The winning teams from the 3 Regional Finals then proceed to the Grand Final hosted at the Fleet Air Museum in Yeovil, where the overall winners are announced!This event is to promote STEM and Engineering among secondary school students.
