Based in San Diego, FOLKLORE GUILD* is comprised of auditioned high school singers, music majors enrolled in local universities, and professional singers representing local organizations such as the San Diego Opera, Sacra/Profana, the San Diego Pro Arte Voices, South Coast Chamber Choir, and Bach Collegium San Diego. Looking to expose a greater audience to both soundtrack and classical music Folklore puts its focus on making music videos to promote the choral art form to a wider audience. In concert, Folklore Guild has premiered works by Jon Kull (Film orchestrator for Spider-Man, I am Legend, the Hunger Games, and Avatar), as well as San Diego composers Joseph M. Waters, and Chris Fulford-Brown. *guild [gild] noun - a medieval association of artisans with related interests, goals, etc., formed for mutual aid, organized to maintain standards and to protect the interests of its members.
