Follow Animals is a nonprofit social platform for animals and animal people. Our mission is to protect animals from slipping into neglect and obscurity by keeping them connected to all the people who love them. If an animal ever needs help (a new home, costly medical care) its followers are notified, recruiting an extended network of resourceful humans. In 2011, Follow Animals director Christel Trutmann found an old white horse for sale on Craigslist for $150. Thirteen years had passed, and he was very skinny, but she recognized him as the horse who'd taught her to ride. Sparky had worked as a lesson horse for over two decades, and in his old age was passed like Black Beauty from owner to owner until he happened to reconnect with someone who knew and loved him as a child. He enjoyed five fat, happy years on Christel's farm in Upstate New York before passing away at the ripe age of thirty-five, and inspired Follow Animals. Follow Animals is currently in development.
