Food should be fun. It should be eye candy and make your mouth water. It should make you feel satisfied, energized and loved. But only 1 in 10 adults get enough fruits and vegetables, and more than half of the vegetables we eat are white potatoes (as fries and chips) and tomatoes (as ketchup or red sauce). Despite the sweetness of berries or the creaminess of avocados, Americans get about 57 percent of calories from ultra-processed foods including sweets. Chips, candy, soda and fast food companies spend billions dedicated to keeping Americans eating this way. To make this kind of food cool. So we thought, sweet potatoes are cool. Blueberries are cool. Lentils are very cool. Let's have some fun and experiment with ways to get fruits, veggies and good food into culture, just like sugary or salty processed foods. We are a positive propaganda collective, a group of food advocates who know the marketing playbook, and are reapplying it to good food, fruits and vegetables. Our mission is to make a difference, even if it's a small one, to help make vegetables, fruits and simple nutrient-dense foods cool in today's culture. They are delicious, good for our bodies and minds, and good for the environment. A win, win, win. They deserve a fighting chance using the advantages of modern marketing.
