Nonprofit Organization Management - Columbus, Ohio, United States
In 1989, Mindy Derr founded Fore Hope℠―a grassroots non-profit organization that provides health recovery through golf therapy. Her father, Guy Derr, was the inspiration behind Fore Hope℠. He suddenly became ill upon his retirement and became depressed and isolated. Guy Derr was an avid golfer and everyone in his hometown knew his talents and love for the game. Mindy was determined to find a way to improve her father's quality of life.Mindy's determination paved the way for the creation of a small grass-roots organization that became Fore Hope℠―which was designed to help those living with symptoms and disabilities from stroke, Parkinson's disease, MS, traumatic brain injury and other neurological conditions. Fore Hope℠ also helped those living with cognitive and physical challenges from many other conditions. In 2017 Fore Hope℠ became a valuable part of the OhioHealth Neuroscience Center. OhioHealth is recognized as one of the top five large health systems in America by IBM Watson Health™. Fore Hope℠ has served over 5,000 individuals with disabilities and continues to serve those in need. Over $5M dollars of donations and in-kind services have been raised.
