Healthcare Facility/Healthcare Services - Birmingham, AL, US
Forge offers breast cancer survivors and their loved ones support, knowledge, strength, and direction. Forge is an unprecedented partnership between Brookwood Baptist Health, Grandview Medical Center, St. Vincent's Health System, UAB Medicine and the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham. Through Forge, breast cancer survivors and their loved ones (also called co-survivors) receive personalized, non-medical care focused on improving their quality of life from the day of diagnosis, through the balance of life. Survivors and co-survivors can be matched with other survivors or co-survivors to receive mentorship, assist with navigation through the healthcare systems and treatment, assist with specific needs including legal, financial, and professional counseling, and so much more. In addition, Forge's telephone support line provides a listening ear and a caring heart, even after normal business hours. Forge also supports the healthcare professionals that serve survivors by offering resources, extension services, continuing education, and more. Forge's many programs include a monthly Gardening class at Birmingham Botanical Gardens that ties gardening topics with survivorship topics; each participant takes home a new gardening creation.
