Cathy Nylin, with Forge Research Group, provides independent, external, research and evaluation services related to: strategic planning, logic model development, research and evaluation design, needs assessments, survey design, quantitative and qualitative data collection, statistical analyses, report preparation, and presentations tailored to all types of audiences. Cathy has an M.A. in Applied Social Psychology with an emphasis in evaluation and research methods from Claremont Graduate University, and over 15 years of experience in research and evaluation in the academic, government, and non-profit sectors. Cathy specializes in the areas of developing effective intervention programs, program evaluation, and understanding the contributions of social environments to well-being. Since 2013, Cathy has worked as a Research Consultant on multiple large-scale experimental and quasi-experimental studies designed to ascertain the effectiveness of various educational curricula, programs and interventions, prevent school dropout, track college readiness, improve the school environment, and increase mental health awareness and services for youth. In her academic research, Cathy has served as a principal or co-principal investigator on studies conducted in elementary and middle school systems as well as in online and community environments. She has presented her research on adolescent health behaviors, community connectedness and well-being in school settings, parent/child relationship maintenance behaviors, and the influence of emotion in health behavior decisions. In both research and academic settings, Cathy has extensive experience planning for the needs of diverse populations. Additionally, Cathy has expertise in utilizing technology to improve intervention outcomes, database development and management, project management, and report preparation for both scientific and lay audiences.
